A large, 14-million-year-old meteorite, believed to have struck the Campo del Cielo near Buenos Aires some five thousand years ago, is mounted in a concave depression against a wall, inviting visitors to touch its surface.

Meteorites serve as a powerful inspiration for Olafur Eliasson, who emphasises the enormous spans of space and time that are bridged in the simple act of touching one. In order to be present to the visitor’s hands, the meteorite travelled massive distances through outer space before crashing to earth.
