Nineteen meteorites, affixed to a circular board, surround a white LED, interrupting its light with oblong shadows that stretch to the board’s edges. The circular board, painted a glossy white, glistens in the LED’s light, and a round covering shields the light from frontal view, evoking the imagery of an eclipse or black hole at the board’s centre. The LED’s intensity draws attention to the colour relativity of the white board, whose outer sections appear almost black in comparison to the halo of luminescence that surrounds the light. The 14-million-year-old meteorites, believed to have struck the Campo del Cielo near Buenos Aires some five thousand years ago, cast shadows that, individually, suggest their motion towards the centre and, collectively, create an abstract pattern of light and dark across the work.
