Spiral pavilion is an arched circular tunnel constructed from steel tubes. The parallel steel tubes, supported by five arches arranged in a circle, spiral upwards at an angle from the outer perimeter of the pavilion and then curve over and down around the inside to the ground, so that each tube completes a full 360-degree circuit. The repeating parallel tubes give the work a sense of endless circulation. An arched opening on one side allows visitors to enter the work, while a second doorway, halfway round the inside, leads into the centre of the pavilion, a central void open to the sky. Initially shown at the 48th Venice Biennale in 1999, the pavilion is now permanently installed in the sculpture park of Kunsthalle Bielefeld, Germany.
