As in the artist’s watercolours and layered glass works, Not-yet-verbalised memory, 2025, presents a central circular ‘figure’ surrounded by a uniform monochromatic field. It adopts the portrait orientation and motif familiar from those paintings and introduces a new technique and material: alcohol-based inks. Alcohol inks come in especially vivid hues that are given to spreading and blending unpredictably. The vibrant alcohol inks have been diluted greatly, poured in multiple layers onto the surface, and allowed to spread into the paper. The circle bleeds organically outward into an irregularly shaped stain or blot. The delicate shades of turquoise and green against the subdued background conjure an illusion of a flame or iridescent will-o-the-wisp.
