This independent artist’s book was published on the occasion of the exhibition Olafur Eliasson at Reykjavik Art Museum – Kjarvalsstaðir, Iceland, 1998, in which the following works were exhibited: Ice pavilion, Well from the parallel garden, and Your compound view, all from 1998. Rather than documenting the exhibition, it consists of twenty-four black and white photographs by Eliasson from Hellisgerði (Icelandic for ‘cave wall’), a public garden built on lava rock formations and located in the fishing port of Hafnarfjördur, which is situated close to Reykjavik. The photographs subsequently became The park series, 1998 (24 C-prints).
