The central sculpture takes the form of a slowly revolving double helix, twenty-five metres in height, which can be viewed from various perspectives around the atrium. Constructed as a continuous pipe, painted white on one side and black on the other, the two concentric helices create an infinite loop, with a larger, outer helix coiled five times around a smaller, more tightly wound inner spiral. Encountered from the balconies of the building’s various levels, the rotating work continuously changes, creating shifting patterns of overlapping black-and-white coils. From below, the two helices render a constantly shifting pattern of concentric circles.
