Tell me about a miraculous invention, 1996
In this simple experimental set-up, a circular wooden frame, wrapped in mirror foil and suspended from the ceiling, functions as an imprecise mirror; two spotlights, one magenta and one green, project light onto this one-sided mirror as it turns. The reflections cast by the mirror move through the space while two shadows on the wall opposite the spotlights morph from circles into ellipses. The reflections and shadows alike reveal that the white light is composed of magenta and green. Where the magenta light is blocked, viewers see a green shadow; where the green light is blocked, the shadow is magenta.
