Model for your circular city is effectively a follow up to the artwork Model room, 2003, which evolved continually until it was acquired by Moderna Museet, Stockholm, in 2015. Both works present a selection of maquettes, prototypes, and geometric experiments that were built at Studio Olafur Eliasson primarily as preparatory studies for artworks or architectural projects. The models form a topographic record of Eliasson’s studio practice over the years. Presented here on a large circular table, arranged into conceptually related districts, they suggest an ideal city that viewers can explore in their imaginations.
