Over the years, Eliasson has explored countless variations on the compass. Future hemisphere compass incorporates materials gathered from remote beaches throughout Iceland with objects at hand in the studio. A magnet attached to the cluster of materials transforms it into a compass that aligns itself with the north–south axis.
