Commissioned by Louis Vuitton Malletier, Eliasson conceived an artwork for the windows of 360 Louis Vuitton stores worldwide, displayed during the Christmas season of 2006. Its basic element was a “solar cooker,” a prefabricated mirror-polished bowl used for cooking in hot climates by utilizing the rays of the sun. A sodium lamp mounted at its center emitted bright monofrequency light into the shopping streets, which was reflected by passing cars and other shop windows. In front of the lamp, two dichromatic glass discs were installed, which changed colour according to the viewers' position and movement outside the store windows. The surroundings and viewers were reflected in the glass discs, which also created a slight moiré effect.
