Your Star

This website accompanied a temporary public artwork by Olafur Eliasson that celebrated new knowledge, dreams, and light.

The star itself was a bright LED lamp powered by renewable energy collected in midsummer via a solar panel and stored in a lithium battery. As part of Nobel Week, it floated in the night sky above City Hall in central Stockholm from 5 to 13 December 2015 on the nights that the weather permitted, using stored summer sunlight to brighten the darkness of winter.

While the star in Stockholm was active, visitors to the website were able to add their own stars to the virtual night sky.

You can centre the large bright star in the sky to watch the series of six short films Making Your Star.
